I am a Canadian, settler artist-researcher in intermedia and site-specific performance and an Associate Professor of theatre and performance at the University of Waterloo.

Much of my work is focused on site-specific performance to critically engage with social and political issues.  For the most part, my practice interrogates notions of 'place' by experimenting with the interface between digital and live events. I have published broadly in my field, and I contend that performances located outside conventional theatre spaces pose important questions about participation, the gaze, private versus public acts, and the various rituals embedded in different environments.

In my artist-research, I endeavour to break down the arbitrary barrier that often exists between research and teaching, as well as between pedagogy and professional practice. My approach is collaborative in that my students learn alongside me and other professional artists, immersed in a given project, as we share our observations and insights on how best to make a given performance.
